Jessel Carneiro extends Kerala Blasters contract until 2023!

Indian Super League franchise Kerala Blasters FC and experienced defender Jessel Carneiro have extended his contract by three seasons until 2023.

29 year old Curtorim-born Jessel Carneiro is a youth product of Dempo SC and he also made his senior debut for the Goan giants. He left for Pune FC in 2014 but only spend one season away from Goa.

He later on joined newcomers FC Bardez for whom he played a few seasons before he returned to Dempo SC in the 2018/19 season and then moved on to the ISL for the first-time to play for the Kerala Blasters.

Jessel Carneiro said, “I aim to be a part of the team when the club lifts their first ISL Trophy. Kerala Blasters FC gave me an opportunity to prove myself and I hope to put in my best efforts and align with the goals of the club for the upcoming seasons too. This is a new beginning for me and I am looking forward to working with our new head coach, Kibu Vicuna.”

Jessel was a surprise regular playing all 18 matches for the Kerala Blasters by providing five assists, making 78 clearances, 28 tackles, 22 blocks and 22 interceptions in the last season.

New Kerala Blasters’ head coach Kibu Vicuna said, “Jessel is one of the top Indian left-backs in the country. He had a fantastic season last year and is a very important player for our team. We are very happy to have him extend his stay with the club.”
