Kerala Blasters apologise for ISL playoff walkout!

The Kerala Blasters have made a public apology via their social media handles for their walkout from the Indian Super League – Season 9 playoff match against Bengaluru FC at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium.

The AIFF Disciplinary Committee had earlier imposed a fine of Rs Four crores (INR 40,000,000) on the Kerala Blasters, while also directing them to issue a ‘Public Apology’ for this unsporting conduct of abandoning the match, failing which the total Fine would have been increased to Rs Six crores (INR 60,000,000).

The Kerala Blasters statement reads

“We would like to express our sincerest regrets for the events that took place during our knockout match vs Bengaluru FC on March 3rd, 2023. We recognise that our decision to walk off the pitch prematurely was unfortunate and taken in the heat of the moment. We would like to reiterate our respect for the larger football fraternity and assure everyone that we will take necessary measures to prevent such incidents from happening again in the future.”
