Kerala Blasters sign Bhutanese striker Chencho Gyeltshen!

Indian Super League franchise Kerala Blasters have announced the signing of Bhutanese striker Chencho Gyeltshen ahead of the 2021/22 season.

25 year old Paro-born Chencho Gyeltshen played locally for Yeedzin FC, Druk United and Thimphu FC before trying to make it in Thailand, first with giants Buriram United and then smaller sides Surin City FC and Satun United FC.

Thereafter Chencho returned to Thimphu FC and played for FC Terton before moving to Bangladesh to join Chittagong Abahani. He returned to his native Bhutan to play for Thimphu City FC.

In the 2017/18 season, Chencho moved to I-League side Minerva Punjab FC in India and helped them with his nine goals to lift the I-League trophy.

He then moved on to Indian Super League side Bengaluru FC but for the second half of the season went on loan to NEROCA FC. Chencho then played for Paro FC and he returned for the 2020/21 season to Punjab FC under new ownership with RoundGlass Sports.

Kerala Blasters sporting director Karolis Skinkys said, “Chencho is a player who doesn’t need any adaptation to India. He has been playing here for the most of his career. He immensely appreciates the opportunity to come back to ISL. I wish Chencho all the best here in the Blasters family.”
