LaLiga and ABDG Group join forces to launch LaLiga Academy Kuwait!

LaLiga and Austrian Business Development Group are partnering to launch ‘LaLiga Academy Kuwait’, with the aim of helping the development of professional football in the country, as well as empowering young people through sport.

This centre will join the list of nine academies that LaLiga has around the world with locations in India, China, United Arab Emirates, two in the United States, Canada, and Vietnam. With a focus on the comprehensive training of players, in the last seven years LaLiga has developed more than 500 sporting projects, training more than 175,000 players in a unique methodology developed by the organisation’s Sports Projects department.

The programmes in Kuwait are scheduled to start at the end of 2022 but before that, in May of this year, the Jaber Stadium will host tryouts, where LaLiga coaches will identify the most promising young Kuwaiti talents and give them the opportunity to get one of the scholarships to study for a year in the new long-term LaLiga Grassroots programmes that will be run at the new ESC Madrid Centre: LaLiga Talents and LaLiga Academy, two programmes that combine sporting and academic training with five scholarships for this summer’s LaLiga Camps in Madrid.

“This partnership between LaLiga and ABDG Sports will be vital for the improvement of the sports industry in Kuwait,” says Abdulla Ajrash, co-founder and CEO of Austrian Business Development Group. “Aiming to shape the future generation of football athletes (male and female), this project will help Kuwaiti football to reach the highest standards that have already been set by the top European leagues led by LaLiga to shape the future generation of male and female footballers. We have an opportunity for young Kuwaitis to show the country’s true potential and for the world to see it.”

For Maite Ventura, LaLiga’s general director in the Middle East, this agreement means “bringing the LaLiga brand and its values to Kuwait, which reflects our commitment to helping the development of football in the country. Through the Academy and our programmes, which will be supervised by highly trained LaLiga coaches, we want to help create a development pathway that will help young players to become professionals.

“LaLiga Academy Kuwait is a unique project that will feature a world class facility,” said Kevin Delaplace, Regional Business Development Manager at ABDG Sports. “All our pitches will meet FIFA standards in terms of size and turf quality and we will have an indoor pitch to allow football to be played all year round.”
