Latest update on upcoming joint 2022 FIFA World Cup/2023 AFC Asian Cup qualifiers in March & June!

Following the match schedule released on February 19 for Match Days 7 and 8, the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has held further discussions with its Member Associations on the feasibility of hosting the upcoming Asian Qualifiers for the 2022 FIFA World Cup – Qatar and 2023 AFC Asian Cup – China.

Due to the evolving impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and new travel and quarantine restrictions in several Participating Member Associations, the revised match schedule for the 2022 FIFA World Cup – Qatar and 2023 AFC Asian Cup – China.

Preliminary Joint Qualification Round 2, which is scheduled to take place on March 25 and 30, 2021 is as follows:

Group D
25-Mar-21: Saudi Arabia vs Palestine (Riyadh; 20:30h)

Group F
25-Mar-21: Tajikistan vs Mongolia (Dushanbe, 18.00h)
30-Mar-21: Mongolia vs Japan (Chiba; 19:30h)

The AFC continues to place the health and safety of players, teams, match officials and all stakeholders as the highest priority and will work together with its Member Associations to closely monitor the situation in the region.

As part of efforts to ensure the safe and successful completion of the Asian Qualifiers, the AFC will open the invitation to Member Associations to host their respective groups in a centralised format and will confirm and communicate in due course the match schedule for the June 2021 international window, where the centralised qualifying matches are scheduled to take place from 31 May to June 15, 2021.
