Legends to light up African Nations Championship 2022 in Algeria!

Big names in world football will be present in Algiers when the TotalEnergies African Nations Championship (CHAN) gets underway on Friday, January 13.

Nigerian Jay Jay Okocha, Asamoah Gyan of Ghana, Tunisia’s Karim Haggui, El Hadji Diouf from Senegal and Togolese Emmanuel Adebayor will be in the stands as the continental competition for players who feature in their domestic leagues gets underway in the Algerian capital.

Son of the soil Rabah Madjer, who played for Algeria for 19 years – winning the AFCON in 1990 as well as playing at two World Cups in 1982 and 1986, will lead the way for the legends and welcome them to his homeland.

Joining this very decorated contingent will be two-time African champion Samuel Eto’o who is also the Cameroon Football Federation president.

A host of other big names are involved in the Technical Study Group (TSG) responsible for overseeing the 32 matches of the tournament including Raymond Kalla (Cameroon), Michael Amenga (Kenya) and Mark Fish (South Africa).

The others are Ameur Chafik (Algeria), Edgar Watson (Uganda), Abraham Mebratu (Ethiopia), Jamal Fathi (Morocco), Joao Miller Gomes (Angola), Herita Illunga (Democratic Republic of Congo) and Belhassen Malouche (Tunisia).

The tournament, which was first held in 2009 in Cote d’Ivoire, is held every two years and this year’s event will start from January 13 to February 4.
