FC Barcelona’s Lionel Messi has surprisingly decided to end his retirement of playing for the Argentinian national football team after meeting the new head coach Edgardo Bauza in Barcelona.
Messi after the penalty shootout loss to Chile in the 2016 Copa America Centenario had announced that he would never play again for the Albiceleste, but support especially in his native Argentina and from football fans around the world besides the new coach Bauza doing everything that he can to convince him to continue to play for Argentina convinced Messi to reconsider his earlier decision.
Messi in a statement said, “I do not want to create another problem, in fact the opposite. Many things need to be fixed in Argentinian football, but I prefer to do so from within.”
“Many things went through my head the day of the last final and I seriously thought of leaving, but I love this country and this shirt too much,” Messi added.
Now Lionel Messi has been selected in the squad to play for Argentina in the upcoming 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Uruguay (September 1) and Venezuela (September 6) in the Albicelestes quest to qualify for Russia 2018.
