FK Željezničar, the top club in Bosnian football, who play in the Premijer Liga of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Macron, the “Hero company”, who have been sponsoring the Sarajevo Blues since last year, proudly present the new home jersey that the team will wear next season. The club celebrated the centenary of its formation only a few weeks ago.
The club was formed in 1921 by a group of railway workers ( Željezničar means “railway worker”) and the team’s choice of blue was inspired by the fact that the colour is traditionally associated with the railways throughout eastern Europe. Over its 100 years of history, FK Željezničar has won the Yugoslavian championship once, the Bosnian championship 6 times and the Bosnian Cup 6 times too. Edin Dzeko, the talented centre forward of Inter Milan, played in the club’s youth teams until 2005. FK Željezničar is one of the most prestigious teams in Bosnia Herzegovina in terms of history, results and passionate fan base.
The new home shirt features the colours white, blue and gold. The body of the shirt is in white with three vertical blue bands, in which every one of the 100 years of the club’s history (from 1921 to the present) appear in a diagonal, tone-on-tone, dye-sub print. The white part also features a thin, vertical gold line. The sleeves are white with blue hems and a thin gold line. The crew neck is in blue with a gold line while the back of the neck repeats the theme of the body, with the club’s centenary logo appearing between gold “100” figures. The figure “100” is also embroidered on the back of the neck. The Macron Hero logo of the Italian brand is embroidered in gold on the right breast while the logo celebrating the centenary of FK Željezničar appears over the heart.
The new home kit is completed by blue shorts with a white drawstring. The socks are in blue with a white band at the top and with the Macron Hero logo on the front and the wording “Željezničar 1921” on the rear, both in gold. The shirt has a slim fit cut and is made mainly from a softlock fabric with micromesh inserts for optimum breathability.
