Major League Lacrosse, Real Madrid & Panasonic to speak at iSportconnect Lausanne Summit!

iSportconnect has announced that Alexander Brown, Commissioner of Major League Lacrosse; Anand Narayanan, Head of Digital Brand Marketing, Communications & Innovations, Panasonic; and David Hopkinson, Global Head of Partnerships, Real Madrid CF will be speaking at the 2019 Lausanne Summit which will be held on Tuesday, September 17.

Alexander Brown – Commissioner – Major League Lacrosse

Alexander P. Brown joined Major League Lacrosse in February 2018. Since taking the helm, Brown has drastically improved the experience and opportunity for players, teams and fans. During his tenure, he has restructured the ownership group and reacquired the league’s media rights. Additionally, Brown has shifted and expanded the game schedule for the first time in decades; increased the league salary cap; increased the team roster size; added a digital production team and rebranded the league’s marks.

Brown is an accomplished executive with over 25 years of leadership experience who has spearheaded the launch and growth of multiple sports media outlets. Most recently, he was the President/CEO of One World Sports, where he launched the HD channel across both linear and digital platforms to over 50 million US subscribers through cable and satellite distributors as well as over-the-top (OTT) platforms.

In 2010, Brown became President of Univision Sports, the leading media outlet for Spanish-speaking Americans, where he created and launched Univision Deportes to over 15 million US homes. As part of this effort, Brown oversaw the rebranding of Univision Sports. Additionally, he not only supervised the production of the highest rated primetime sports broadcast in the channel’s history at the time with the Mexico vs. Honduras match in the 2011 Gold Cup, but he developed Univision’s nightly version of Sportscenter,, “Univision Deportes Extra” or “UDX” as well as the network’s signature soccer pregame program, “Futbol Central”.

Brown has extensive experience in the international markets. Based in Hong Kong and Singapore, he launched ESPN’s business in Asia while serving as the Managing Director of both ESPN Asia and ESPN Star Sports. Brown’s international work in sports began in the late 1980’s when he was hired by the NBA to oversee their international television interests in over 100 countries.

Brown played lacrosse collegiately at Washington and Lee University and represented the university in the 1985 USILA North South Game.

David Hopkinson, Global Head of Partnerships, Real Madrid C.F.

David joined Real Madrid in August 2018 and brings his 25 years of professional sports sales, marketing and leadership experience to drive Real Madrid’s world-leading Global Partnerships program to even greater heights. David began his career in professional sports in Toronto, Canada where he ascended from an entry-level Day One employee with the NBA’s Toronto Raptors through to Chief Commercial Officer of MLSE; owners of the Raptors as well as the NHL’s Toronto Maple Leafs, MLS’s Toronto FC, the CFL’s Toronto Argonauts and the NBA2K league’s Raptors Uprising esports team.

David maintains ties to Canada, serving on the Chancellor’s Advisory Committee for McGill University in Montreal. In 2012 David was awarded the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal in recognition of his contributions to Canada. David and his family live in Madrid, Spain.

Anand Narayanan, Head of Digital Brand Marketing, Communications & Innovations, Panasonic

Starting out at a boutique agency, working for multinational brands, as a freelancer and writing about sport! Anand has experience across different facets of branding, content and marketing. Anand started his career in India with a creative agency as a copywriter working on FMCG and sports clients, before he became the first digital hire for Time Warner in India and helped build up their portfolio of online properties across Cartoon Network, Warner Bros and regional TV channels. He then transitioned to a 360 degree marketing role internally working on launching the Warner Bros movie channel in the country. After 3.5 years at Time Warner, Anand moved to the UK to pursue his passion for sport with an MBA in Football Industries at the University of Liverpool.
