Massimo Marinelli joins board of London’s Kinetic Foundation!

London football charity, the Kinetic Foundation, has today announced the appointment of Massimo Marinelli to its board of trustees.

Marinelli joins with extensive experience, having spent 15 years in mergers and acquisitions in the City and Wall Street. Most recently, he has held the position of Chief Executive Officer and Board Member at Aser Ventures, where he has led the strategy and investments of the group across a variety of subsector in sports, media and entertainment.

This includes the marquee investment of the group, Leeds United Football Club, where he was also a member of the board and has played a key role in the various investments in the club from the 49ers Enterprises.

Speaking of his appointment to the Kinetic Foundation Massimo Marinelli said, “The Kinetic Foundation and its team stood out to me from the get-go; I am really impressed by the ethos and the goal of the Foundation as well as all that the team has been able to achieve in such a short period of time and with very limited budget.”

“Coming from experience in the Premier League, it is great to see that the passion for football is so deep-rooted beyond the glitz and glamour of the top football league in the world. I’m a father of two young boys, and although they are much younger than the group targeted by Kinetic, I know how important it is to keep the young generation engaged and provide them with the right stimulus to continue to believe and do better.”

“I want to support the executive team and work with the other trustees to deliver the execution of the strategy and contribute as much as possible with existing relationships and help establish new ones to allow Kinetic to continue to deliver its tremendous programs to more nd more students and become more and more sustainable.”

James Fotheringham, co-founder of the Kinetic Foundation, added, “We’re delighted that Massimo has chosen to join the Kinetic Foundation’s board to lend his advice and expertise and support our ambitious growth plans. His passion for the work we do was clear from the offset, and his experience will be invaluable in shaping the future of the charity.”

“There is no doubt that working together, we can grow and expand Kinetic’s footprint across London and beyond, giving even more young people the opportunity to change their lives through the power of football. I look forward to Massimo’s input into shaping the future of the Kinetic Foundation.”

The Kinetic Foundation is an innovative charity that uses a unique community sport model to support disadvantaged and disengaged young people from the most deprived areas in London by delivering diversionary activities, education and opportunities for young people (14-19 years old) in the UK.

To date, 8,000 young people have played football with Kinetic, with 88% of those participants coming from underrepresented ethnic backgrounds. After graduating from Kinetic, 95% of the young people move onto higher education, employment or training. 72 have signed for professional football clubs including Myles Kenlock, Omar Richards, Joe Aribo, Josh Maja, Rhys Norrington-Davies, Ali Koiki and Kwadwo Baah.

Kinetic Foundation gives over 1,000 young Londoners a year the opportunity to receive UEFA level football coaching whilst helping them complete full-time education, with a new girls-only football programme that started in September 2023.
