Minerva Academy beat Shergill Soccer Academy in first JCT Punjab U-17 League game!

Minerva Academy began their 3rd JCT Punjab U-17 League with a clash against Shergill Soccer Academy at the Jagat Singh Palahi Stadium.

Minerva Academy took a very early lead through Gwgwmsar. The Shergill defence couldn’t handle a neatly strung move by Minerva Academy, and once the ball fell to the No.16, he took a touch and put his right foot through it to find the bottom corner to make it 1-0.

Shergill then got a free kick 25 yards out, and it was struck decently enough, but Charles made a good save in the Minerva Academy goal.

A free-kick down the other end for Minerva Academy was dropped into the box, and the header from Sadananda was well-blocked as it was on target.

Minerva Academy were dominating possession throughout, not giving Shergill any chance of getting into the game.

They got their second in first-half added time as a beautiful through-ball was fed into Gwgwmsar, who latched onto it and tucked it past the oncoming goalkeeper to make it 2-0.

Minerva Academy led 2-0 at half-time.

The away team started the second half the same way they ended the first. In the 48th minute, a poorly taken free-kick directly found the feet of Sadananda, who still had a lot to do.

He ran at goal and unleashed an unstoppable shot, which hit the post and went in. Minerva Academy were now comfortably cruising at 3-0.

Thereafter, Minerva Academy created plenty of chances but were unable to register a fourth. Nonetheless, they ended the game with a clean sheet and started 2022 with a neat 3-0 win.
