Minerva Academy conduct blood donation camp in view of blood shortage in blood banks!

Minerva Academy FC in association with Rotary Club of Sector – 37, Chandigarh, organized a blood donation camp on May 19, 2021 at Minerva Academy in Mohali.

Minerva Academy received an SOS from Rotary Club on May 18 and the club organized the camp on priority within 12 hours.

Speaking on the occasion, Ranjit Bajaj, Director of Minerva Academy FC said, “During these unprecedented times of Covid-19 affecting the world, hospitals and blood banks are running short of blood and Minerva Academy FC has organized this blood donation camp as an effort to support the local blood bank.”

Mr. Bajaj further lauded this initiative and urged Minerva Academy FC employees to associate with this noble cause. The blood donation camp witnessed an overwhelming response, with 31 members of the club participating, and a total of 31 units of blood were collected.

The second wave of Covid-19 has seen an exponentially high rise in cases. The pandemic is already causing enormous collateral damage to the national health care system, with adverse health effects due to blood shortage being a crucial factor in the crisis.

Moreover, blood banks and hospitals are facing various challenges that are hampering voluntary blood donation.

In an attempt to help tackle this, Minerva conducted the camp which went on for almost three hours. This is the third time Minerva and its employees have donated blood since the first phase of lockdown i.e. in March 2020.

On this occasion, Dr. Manish Bali, in-charge of Sector-37 Rotary Club, thanked Minerva for taking this noble initiative and conducting a successful blood donation camp.
