Minerva Punjab FC club & coaches nominated for FFCI’s top awards!

The I-League’s only northern representative Minerva Punjab FC has been nominated across two categories by the Jury of the Federation of Football Coaches in India (FFCI).

The nominations have come in the following 2 Awards

1. I-League Club of the Month (November/December 2017)

2. I-League Coach and Assistant Coach of the Month (for Head Coach Wangkhem Khogen Singh and assistant coach Sachin Badadhe)

The Federation of Football Coaches in India (FFCI), an organization formed in 2011 and approved by the All India Football Federation (AIFF) is scheduled to organize its Monthly Award Ceremony for the ‘I-League Club of the Month’ and ‘I-League Coach of the Month’ on January 8, 2018 at The Calcutta Sports Journalists Club premises on the Kolkata Maidans at 3pm.

FFCI Monthly Awards are given to the Club in accordance with the constant lead position during the month, 30 days in the I-League 2017 apart from this Development and Playing philosophy of the club is also taken onto consideration for nomination.

For Minerva Punjab FC it surely is an honour to be rewarded by Shyam Thapa, Chairman, Technical Committee AIFF and Chief Mentor, FFCI. The Mohali-based club’s contribution to the Development of Indian Football have not gone unnoticed as they managed to contribute around 33 players to various age-group team of the India international set-up starting from the U-15 to the Senior National Team. Notably India’s first goal-scorer at a FIFA World Cup Tournament, Jeakson Singh, was too a product of Minerva Punjab FC’s Academy along with three others who made a cut in the 21-member squad for Team India at its first ever FIFA U-17 World Cup appearance.
