Minerva Punjab FC open their I-League campaign against former champions Mohun Bagan!

Northern India’s sole representative in the upcoming I-League, Minerva Punjab FC kick off their season against Kolkata giants Mohun Bagan on Saturday, November 25 at the Guru Nanak Stadium in Ludhiana at 5.30pm.

Mohali-based Minerva Punjab FC, who recently beat former I-League Ccampions and AFC Cup finalists Bengaluru FC 3-2 in Bellary in a friendly, have had a successful pre-season under the watchful eyes of head coach Sachin Badade as they faced only one defeat out of 7 matches played under the Maharastra based tactician.

It would be interesting to watch the Mohali-based team who have three own Academy players, namely 16 year old Aajruddin Shah, India’s U-17 World Cupper Mohammed Sahajahan and 17 year old Makan Winkle Chote in the blue Armour.

Three other India’s U-17 World Cuppers Nongdamba Naorem, Anwar Ali and India’s historic first FIFA World Cup goalscorer Jeakson Singh too were tipped to join the squad but were later snapped by the AIFF’s Indian Arrow’s project team to play in the I-League.
