Minerva Punjab FC ready for their U-19 IFA Shield opener!

Minerva Punjab FC have reached Kolkata to take part in the 121st IFA Shield U-19 Football Tournament being played from today until June 11, 2017. This is a historic milestone as Minerva are the first club in history to participate in the renowned tournament from Chandigarh.

The 121st IFA Shield will see participation from the Under-19 squads of eight teams including East Bengal, Mohun Bagan, AIFF Elite Academy, FC Pune City, defending champions Tata Football Academy, Mohammedan Sporting, and Pathachakra. Minerva Punjab FC have been granted direct entry along with six other teams and Pathachakra qualifying from the preliminary stage.

Minerva Punjab FC are in Group B alongside Mohun Bagan (May 27), the Tata Football Academy (May 30) and FC Pune City (June 30).

The team reached Kolkata yesterday and underwent a light training session today at the Mohun Bagan ground in preparation of tomorrow’s encounter against Mohun Bagan.
