Miss Germany Domitila Barros joins German Football Ambassador advisory board!

The non-profit association German Football Ambassador sets a next sign and expands its advisory board with Domitila Barros. The reigning Miss Germany grew up in a favela in Brazil, received an award from UNESCO for her commitment there and was given the opportunity to study social and political sciences. In the meantime, she has become a successful social entrepreneur, campaigning for women and environmental protection. Today, Domitila Barros is sought after by institutions and companies alike as an advisor and visionary. Even German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock has already invited her for an exchange. This year, Barros was not only nominated for the German Sustainability Award, but even as a Global Young Leader.

The bridge to the Foreign Ministry is not her only parallel with the German Football Ambassador. The club itself has maintained a successful collaboration with the German Foreign Office for more than nine years. Barros is a self-confessed soccer fan and took a soccer seminar during her student days. Barros has already supported the German Football Ambassador on a voluntary basis in recent years, in particular with her expertise regarding soccer in Brazil. The president of the non-profit organization, Roland Bischof, in turn acted as a professional mentor for Domitila Barros for several years.

Dr. Norbert Taubken, Chairman of the Advisory Board, is pleased about the strengthening of the Advisory Board, “After Sylvia Walker and Monika Staab, Domitila Barros is now the third woman to contribute her expertise to our Advisory Board as of this year. This means that the Advisory Board of the German Football Ambassador now has equal numbers of women and men. Particularly in the world of soccer, I see this as an important signal for society.”

In addition to Chairman Dr. Norbert Taubken, the Advisory Board of the German Football Ambassador now consists of the following members (in alphabetical order): Domitila Barros (social entrepreneur), Johannes Ebert (Secretary General Goethe-Institut), Dietmar Hopp (SAP founder and patron), Urs Meier (referee legend), Katrin Müller-Hohenstein (sports presenter), Karl-Heinz Rummenigge (among others executive member UEFA), Monika Staab (national coach Saudi Arabia women’s team and soccer pioneer), Sylvia Walker (sports presenter).
