Mizoram Police pull off stunning MPL comeback as Chhinga Veng FC fight for last 4!

Mizoram Police completed one of the most remarkable comebacks in the MPL – Round 11 as they fought back from 5-1 down to win 6-5 against Aizawl FC.

A first half brace from Alfred Jaryan and Rochharzela and a strike from K. Lalhmangaihkima had put the defending champions in a commanding position at half-time.

But a valiant comeback from led by R. Malsawmtluanga saw the Police team equalise just 21 minutes into the second half. Lalbiakthanga Hmar then sealed a penalty five minutes from time to hand Aizawl FC their first defeat of the season.

Despite the loss, the I-League team still sit at the top of the table with a three point lead over Mizoram Police.

Elsewhere Chawnpui FC earned their second victory of the season as they pulled off an upset victory against Electric Veng FC.

A brace from Vanlalthlamuana earned the three points for Chawnpui FC who still have a glimmer of hope for safety in the league. A late David Lalchhuanawma penalty for Electric Veng FC could not make a difference in the outcome as they sit in fourth courtesy of a better head-to-head record against Chanmari FC.

Chanmari FC succumbed to a 1-0 defeat against Chhinga Veng FC in the final game of round 11. The two time champions could not answer Lalmawizuala’s second half strike as Chhinga Veng FC earned valuable three points that creates a five point gap against fourth placed Electric Veng FC.

Ramhlun North FC could not capitalise on a bright start against FC Venghnuai as both teams left with a point after a 3-3 draw.

Lalpekhlua Jongte grabbed a brace within 14 minutes of the start with Lalremsanga scoring soon after Vanlalthanga had pulled one back for Venghnuai. Thanga then score their second four minutes later with Lalruatfela equalising three minutes into the second half.

The next round of the Mizoram Premier League will be played tomorow through to Saturday with a change in venue due to Lammual hosting Pawl Kut.
