Two time Mizoram Premier League champions Chanmari FC continued their struggles this season as they succumbed to a 6-1 defeat against Mizoram Police in round 9 of the MPL.
The police team took an early lead at Rajiv Gandhi Stadium in the noon fixture, striking through Lalfakzuala to establish a one goal lead at halftime.
The I-Day champions then put the game out of sight within a space of 16 minutes as Chanmari FC unravelled early on in the second half. Veteran striker Malsawmfela struck a header in the 53rd minute and then finished Biaktea’s ball in the 58th for his second. Police midfielder Dawngliana added their fourth three minutes later.
Chanmari FC pulled one back through Lalnunzira but the onslaught continued till the end as Lalnunsanga was able to bag a late brace before the full-time whistle.
