The final fixture of Round 5 of the Mizoram Premier League – Season 5 saw Chanmari West FC come out on top against MPL newcomers Ramhlun North FC in a rain soaked battle.
Both teams found it difficult to find proper rhythm at the start of the match after some heavy rain had drenched the pitch. But Chanmari West FC gradually gained the upper hand and looked to create something trying to hit their opponents on the break.
They duly got their reward on the 21st minute with fleet-footed winger Danmawia setting up Dampuia to give his side the lead.
The second half saw a delay in play because of fog but as play commenced Chanmari West FC looked more comfortable on the ball, although Ramhlun North FC, looking for an equaliser looked threatening at times.
Ramhlun North FC tested Chanmari West FC’s goalkeeper Lalmama a couple of times but it was Laldampuia of Chanmari West FC again, who pulled the trigger as he slotted past Ramhlun North FC’s custodian with ease to put the result beyond any doubt.
Two goal hero Laldampuia was duly chosen as the Man of the Match.
Chanmari West FC moved into third spot with seven points while Ramhlun North FC remained in sixth place with four points.
