Mizoram Premier League: Chhinga Veng FC return to winning ways in style!

mpl-chhinga-veng-fc-zo-united-fcThe penultimate fixture of Round 9 of the Mizoram Premier League – Season 5 saw newcomers Chhinga Veng FC return to winning ways after going seven straight games without a victory.

Injury-hit Chhinga Veng FC will hope to build a good run of form from this result after a dismal performance in phase 1 of MPL5, which saw them fall from outside challengers for the title to relegation battlers.

It would seem as though it was meant to be their day though, as they looked threatening from the off with Captain MK-a and Dawngtea coming close to breaking the deadlock.

Chhinga Veng FC skipper MK-a saw his free kick come close as well until they finally took the lead on the 33rd minute when VL Lawma pounced on a rebound after goalkeeper Lalmama failed to safely parry MK-a’s shot. Captain MK-a then doubled their lead shortly after, coming on the end of a fine Lawma delivery.

Zo United struggled to keep possession as they could not cope with the intensity of their opponents. An error from Zo United’s backline saw VL Lawma grabbing his second 11 minutes from time sealing all three points for his side in a one-sided affair.

Chhinga Veng FC’s skipper H. Lalmuankima (MK-a) was chosen as the Man of the Match.
