Mizoram Premier League: Goalkeeping howlers prove costly for Chhinga Veng FC!

chanmari-fc-chhinga-veng-fcDay two of the third round of Mizoram Premier League – Season 5 was kicked off with plenty of action as Chanmari FC squared off with newcomers Chhinga Veng FC.

Both teams met in the Iedependence Day football tournament earlier this season with Chanmari FC victorious in a 2-0 win while Chhinga Veng FC has had a good start so far in MPL5 with a win and a draw from two fixtures.

It did not take long for Chanmari FC to take the lead when Chhinga Veng FC goalkeeper Lalhmaa spilled a Rosanga shot into the path of R. Malsawmtluanga on the 5th minute. Tluanga duly converted the chance he was gifted to give his side the lead.

Chanmari FC while dominating proceedings could not create enough chances while Chhinga Veng FC looked eager to try and hit their opponents on the counter-attack.

Another howler from the Chhinga Veng FC keeper saw Fela Zote take advantage to double their lead on the 32nd minute. Chhinga Veng FC’s custodian again failing to secure the ball from another set piece.

Chhinga Veng FC shook things up in the second half and began brightly after the interval with MK-a and Sawmzela looking particularly threatening. And their vibrancy paid off with Lalfelpuia pulling one back for his team on the 60th minute.

Chanmari FC then showed their ruthless side with striker Malsawmfela scoring on the 72nd minute and Muanzova striking their fourth three minutes from time – both the goals could have been avoided with better goalkeeping.

Chanmari FC’s centre half C. Lalrosanga was awarded The Man of the Match for his efforts.
