Mizoram Premier League: All square between Aizawl FC and Chhinga Veng FC!

I-League champions Aizawl FC were held to a third consecutive draw in this season’s Mizoram Premier League by Chhinga Veng FC in what could very well be a classic MPL encounter.

Chhinga Veng FC who are the only undefeated team in all three competitions this season took an early lead when striker Malsawmfela struck a trademark freekick on the 7th minute.

It wasn’t long for Aizawl FC to find an equaliser as vibrant attacker Rochharzela’s cross was met by Lalthathanga who finished it off in the 19th minute.

Laldampuia drew a save from Aizawl FC’s goalkeeper Avilash Paul as Chhinga Veng FC looked to retake the lead. And they were duly rewarded for their efforts when Aizawl FC defender Lalhriatrenga put the ball in the back of his own net after some brilliant work from Vanlallawma.

The I-League champions came close to equalising in the first half as the pair of Rochharzela and Jonathan Lalrawngbawla put their opponent’s backline to the sword before halftime.

And they were at it again right from the start of the second half and eventually found the net on the 49th minute when Jonathan finishing a delightful cross from Rochharzela.

Both teams came close to taking the lead on several occasions as R. Malsawmtluanga missed a good chance for Chhinga Veng FC while Lalmuankima and Alfred threatened for Aizawl FC.

Malsawmfela almost nicked it in the end for Chhinga Veng FC but saw his freekick struck the bar.

Chhinga Veng FC’s custodian Zothanmawia was named man of the match for his heroics.
