Mohammedan Sporting go down on penalties in All India Mau Nagarpalika Gold Cup final!

Kolkata’s Mohammedan Sporting Club settled for second place in the 2016 All India Mau Nagarpalika Gold Cup after they went down 5-6 via sudden-death against ONGC of Mumbai in the final played at Faizabad Sports Complex in Varanasi on Tuesday.

Right from the start both teams played some spirited football, but despite several close chances at either end, both teams failed to break the deadlock in regulation time, forcing the game to be decided on penalties where ONGC turned out to be better or rather luckier side.

Mohammedan Sporting Club had their chances through Manvir Singh and Leonce Dodoz who could not capitalize, while for ONGC Ghanaian forwrad Enock Annan hit the crossbar and Kailash Patil’s shot was saved by the Mohammedan Sporting keeper.
