Mohammedan Sporting rout TRAU 6-0 in I-League!

Mohammedan Sporting Club brushed off a disappointing performance in their previous game to put TRAU FC to the sword in their third home game of the season in Naihati on Tuesday, November 7.

The six-goal rout started as early as the fifth minute. Alexis Gomez’s cross to the far post, brilliantly cut back by Fanai Lalremsanga into the path of David Lalhlansanga, who blasted in from a yard outside goal to give the home team the lead.

The youngster doubled his own and the team’s tally six minutes later. The goal was proof that TRAU had not and would not learn from their errors, and the method a carbon copy of the opener. This time Mohammedan made it look neater.

TRAU kept losing the aerial battle repeatedly, and whether this was when contesting the second ball in midfield or the cross in the box, Mohammedan’s physicality overwhelmed them completely.

Joseph Adjei opened his own account for the season in the 29th minute, rising high from a Gomez corner to head into an empty goal. TRAU goalkeeper Sanaton Singh had come out flapping at thin air.

Eight minutes before the break Mirjalol Kasimov made it three, Lalremsanga’s industrious ability to retrieve the ball helping the Uzbek launch it in from the top of the box.

With the game pretty much dusted within the first 45, Mohammedan eased up in the second half. It was still enough though for Lalremsanga to register a much-deserved goal, and Lalmuanpuia to add a sixth with a top-drawn effort in injury time.
