Mohammedan Sporting down Southern Samity 3-0 to log first win in U-18 I-League!

mohammedan-sporting-u-18sMohammedan Sporting Club registered their first win in the ongoing Under-18 I-League after beating Southern Samity 3-0 in a Kolkata Zone encounter at the Howrah Stadium on Wednesday.

Southern Samity was no match for Mohammedan Sporting as the Susanta Guha-coached side banged in the first goal within 30 seconds into the game through Rajat Mondal.

Having taken the early lead, Mohammedan Sporting got a much needed confidence boost and they increased their pressure upfront creating numerous scoring opportunities, but the hosts Southern Samity managed to hold on attacks in the first half as the visitors took their solitary goal advantage into the breather.

The second half began in the same way as the first with Mohammedan Sporting taking control of the proceedings. Having dominated possession for long durations, Mohammedan Sporting doubled their lead in the 68th minute when Sachin Singh burst on a solo to beat the rival keeper Kaushik Majhi from close and find the back of the net.

Mohammedan Sporting completed the win with the third goal coming in the 78th minute, courtesy Sourav Das. Southern tried to stage a comeback late in the second half but the visitors defended valiantly to keep the scoreline 3-0 in their favour.

This was Mohammedan Sporting’s first win in U-18 I-League in almost three years, last time when they won a match it was against Kalighat Milan Sangha on February 22, 2014 at the Barasat Municipal Stadium. However, the league known then as U-19 I-League.

Following this win Mohammedan Sporting now have three points from two games and would host Sports Authority of India (East Zone) next on Tuesday, November 29.
