Kolkata giants Mohun Bagan continued their perfect start into their Calcutta Football League – Premier Division ‘A’ campaign with a 4-0 trashing of George Telegraph SC at the floodlit Mohun Bagan ground on the Kolkata Maidans.
Mohun Bagan put pressure from the start on George Telegraph but had to wait 17 minutes to score the first goal, which came from Prabir Das header off a Tapan Maity corner. It was the same combination again in the 37th minute off another corner to give Mohun Bagan a two-nil lead, only this time Prabir Das scored with his foot.
After the break things remained the same and in the 61st minute Gurpreet Singh handled the ball in the area and referee Uttam Sarkar pointed to the spot. Striker Darryl Duffy took the penalty which was saved by Laltu Mondal, but Duffy scored of the rebound. Newly signed substitute Thangjam Saran Singh scored the final goal of the night with a brilliant long ranger in the 86th minute to cap off a great day on the green for the Mariners.
