Mumbai Knights FC look for back to back wins in IWL 2023!

Mumbai Knights FC made a dream start to their IWL 2023 campaign as they beat Kahaani FC by 1-0 to earn all three points.

Priyanka’s first half strike was enough for the win. Although the scoreline looks 1-0, Mumbai Knights FC could have easily won by two or three goals had they taken their chances and if Priyanka’s second wasn’t ruled out.

Nonetheless with three points in the bag, Mumbai Knights FC made a bright start to their Group stage campaign being amongst the four sides to win their first match.

Heavyweights and defending Champions Gokulam Kerala FC, Sports Odisha, Misaka United FC and Mumbai Knights FC all won their opening matches.

As far as Mumbai Knights are concerned, their fullbacks Mansi and Pranita were absolutely unplayable as both did well going forward and at the back in defense as well. Mansi was judged the player of the match.

Mumbai Knights FC had a rock solid midfield of Sushmita and Valencia with Karen Pias doing extremely well to transition from defense to attack linking up well with Priyanka and Karishma. Ritu Rani played a key part is assisting Priyanka’s goal and could have got a second assist as well had the goal not been ruled out.

Kashmira looked rock solid in goal and although had to do very little but was very alert with whatever came her way. Afreen and Srutilakshmi were instrumental in keeping the Kahaani FC attack at bay and will be looking to replicate the same in the second match.

Mata Rukmani FC lost their opening match to Misaka United FC by 0-2 and will be looking to bounce back in the upcoming match this Saturday.

The match is scheduled to take place tomorrow, April 29 with the kickoff at 8.30am at the Shahibaug Police Ground.

Can the Mumbai Knights FC make it two wins in two? Or will Mata Rukmani FC get one on the team from Maharashtra.
