Mumbai Marines FC gear up for season opener against Young Boys FC!

As anticipation for the Mumbai Super League 2023-24 season reaches its peak, Mumbai Marines FC take on Young Boys FC in the highly anticipated season opener for both sides. Mumbai Marines have been working tirelessly during the pre-season to fine-tune their strategies and tactics, setting the stage for an exciting battle right from the first whistle. With the integration of new players and the experienced current players, this season they look to go a step further in the season, qualify for the Mumbai Super League playoffs.

Mumbai Marines had a respectable mid table finish for its first ever season in the Mumbai Super League. They went toe-to-toe against some of the seasoned sides in Super League history and finished just one point behind ROQS FC in fourth. They finished with four wins in nine group matches, two draws and three losses. Some of those draws losses were last minute goals with no time to respond thus resulting in points dropped.

Young Boys FC finished eight in Group C of the Mumbai Super League last season. They were winless for the entire group stage, drawing three and losing five of their total eight matches. They will be looking to do what they couldn’t last season, get all three points against a top side like Mumbai Marines FC.

Having been drawn in Group B, Mumbai Marines will be up against 11 other teams vying for a top 4 spot for qualification to the playoffs.

Aakash Malvankar, Co-Founder of Mumbai Marines and current Team Manager, said on the preparations and expectations from season opener, “This season is quite exciting, with a difficult group. We hope and expect to punch well above our weight. The team has been preparing for tomorrow’s game from quite some time and we will be hoping to bring home the win and the three points.”

With renewed vigour and exuberant passion of the management staff and players, Mumbai Marines will look to make great strides and add to their already prestigious history. With three promotions since inception propelling them from the third division to the Super League in Mumbai, the Marines side will look to add another feather in their cap.
