Indian Super League franchise NorthEast United FC have continued with their squad rebuilding ahead of ISL – Season 3 with the signing of Brazilian defender Mailson Alves, who last season won the ISL-2 title with Chennaiyin FC.
28 year old Mailson Alves Barreiro Veriato after his time with small Brazilian clubs in his youth started off his senior career with Portuguese side Portimonense Sporting Clube before playing for Porto Alegre FC, Tombense FC, Vila Nova FC and Tupi FC in his home country.
Last year Mailson joined Chennaiyin FC and created a strong partnership with Frenchman Bernard Mendy at the heart of defence, which led to Chennaiyin FC winning the ISL title.
After the end of ISL-2, Mailson joined Volta Redonda FC in Brazil and this summer he returns to India to join NorthEast United FC.
