NorthEast United FC announce signing of seven more Indian players for ISL-5!

Indian Super League franchise NorthEast United FC have announced the signing of seven more domestic Indian players in defenders Pawan Kumar Jr, Simranjit Singh, and Provat Lakra besides midfielders Redeem Tlang, Seityasen Singh, Girik Khosla, and Lalthathanga Khawlhring.

The announcement of the signing of the seven above comes after NorthEast United FC earlier announced the signing of goalkeeper Pawan Kumar, defender Gurwinder Singh, winger Nikhil Kadam and attacking midfielder Kivi Zhimoni.

23 year old Shillong-born Redeem Tlang after a strong spell at Shillong Lajong FC, returns to NEUFC this season after ISL-1 hoping to make his mark using his experience in the I-League. The right winger, who rose up the ranks at Shillong Lajong FC, will be looking to seal his position in the Manager’s starting XI.

23 year old Punjab-born Pawan Kumar Jr, 23 is a versatile defender who was signed from FC Pune City and is a former member of the AIFF Elite Academy and represented the India U-19s. Starting his professional career with Salgaocar FC in 2014, spending time on loan with Delhi United FC, Pawan is an emerging talent who is waiting to be tested at the highest level in India.

26 year old Punjab-born Simranjit Singh is a Tata Football Academy graduate, who joins the Highlanders for the 2018/19 season from Delhi Dynamos FC. Before his stint in Delhi, he was a part of the I-League side, Minerva Punjab FC, Mohammedan Sporting Club, Kalyani Bharat FC and the Pailan Arrows.

26 year old Manipur-born Seityasen Singh is a versatile winger who returns to NEUFC for a third stint after spells at DSK Shivajians FC (loan) and Delhi Dynamos FC. Seityasen was a part of the infamous Royal Wahingdoh FC side from 2011-15 where he captained and aided the side to qualify for the I-League. Despite having only 11 appearances for Delhi Dynamos last season, he was able to bag one goal and three assists for the Lions.

20 year old West Bengal-born Provat Lakra after an impressive spell with Gokulam Kerala FC last season will make his ISL debut. The young left-back joins NEUFC as he has proven that despite his young age, Provat’s ability to read the game and provide support to a team’s attack, make him an ideal fit for the Highlanders.

20 year old Mizoram-born Lalthathanga Khawlhring was signed by the Highlanders in 2017 and loaned to I-League side Aizawl FC immediately, this youngster showed immense talent during his stint with the club where he had 11 appearances and one goal to his name. With the experience of representing Aizawl FC in the AFC Cup, the young midfielder will be hoping to light up the midfield in the upcoming season.

23 year old Mumbai-born Girik Khosla was an integral part in the Minerva Punjab FC’s title winning I-League squad. Before joining Minerva Punjab FC, the midfielder led Chandigarh to the final phase of the Santosh Trophy with four goals in three games to his name. His passion and perseverance, along with his blistering pace, gives the Highlanders a boost in the midfield.
