NorthEast United FC appoint former Chelsea manager Avram Grant as Technical Advisor!

Struggling Indian Super League franchise NorthEast United FC have appointed former Chelsea manager Avram Grant as a Technical Advisor for the remainder of the ISL – Season 4, while he also will fill in as head coach for Joao Deus, who was sacked yesterday after only four points from seven matches.

Israeli Avram Grant said, “I agreed to the challenge and am hitting the ground running. India is a new and exciting environment for football and look forward to the pace of the League. I have confidence in the club and we will do all we can to take the Club forward.”

After success in his homeland Israel with clubs and the national side, Avram Grant moved to England in 2006 to become Technical Director of FC Portsmouth before
being appointed Director of football at Chelsea in July 2007 and steered the team into the UEFA Champions League final, the League Cup final and contesting the Premier League title until the last day.

Thereafter he coached at FC Portsmouth, West Ham United and Partizan Belgrade (Serbia) before becoming Technical Director at Thai side BEC Tero Sasana. Thereafter he coached the Ghana national team, now he moves to the NorthEast of India.
