NorthEast United FC extend contract of five midfielders!

Indian Super League franchise NorthEast United FC have announced the contract extension of five of their midfielders ahead of the 2022/23 season.

Amongst the midfielders are Imran Khan, Mohammed Irshad, Pragyan Gogoi, Emanuel Lalchhanchhuaha, Pragyan Medhi, who all will play another season for the Highlanders.

27 year old Manipur-born Imran Khan played locally as a junior.

Imran Khan made his breakthrough with Mohammedan Sporting Club before going on to play for NEROCA FC and Fateh Hyderabad AFC. He then signed for FC Goa, but only played for their reserves before playing on loan with Gokulam Kerala FC and Mohun Bagan before returning to NEROCA in January 2020. Imran Khan then signed for NorthEast United FC in the summer of 2020 and established himself with the Highlanders.

25 year old Tirur-born Mohammed Irshad played in his youth for Viva Kerala, Tirur Sports Academy, and DSK Shivajians FC.

It was at DSK Shivajians FC that Mohammed Irshad made his senior debut. Thereafter he went on to play for Gokulam Kerala FC, Minerva Punjab FC, returning to Gokulam Kerala FC before being signed by SC East Bengal for their ISL debut. But he was send to RoundGlass Punjab FC for the remainder of the season in January 2021 and then moved to the Highlanders.

20 year old Mizoram-born Emanuel Lalchhanchhuaha played locally at youth level in Mizoram before moving out of his home state.

He later on joined Bengaluru FC’s Under-18 before moving on to their reserve side and also being part of their ISL first team, but Emanuel then moved to NorthEast United FC last summer.

23 year old Sivanagar-born Pragyan Gogoi played locally in Assam before joining the Shillong Lajong FC Academy and then the Kerala Blasters U-18s.

It was at the Blasters that Pragyan Gogoi made it to their Reserve side before moving back to Assam to join NorthEast United FC in 2020.

18 year old Pragyan Medhi played locally before joining the DSK Shivajians FC U-16s before moving to the Indian Arrows. He then moved to NorthEast United FC before the last season of the Indian Super League.
