Indian Super League franchise NorthEast United FC have decided not to extend the contract of their German-born Greek midfielder Panagiotis Triadis.
And that decision has come as somewhat of a surprise as Triadis played in seven of nine matches for the Highlanders scoring two goals and assisting in another.
27 year old Panagiotis Triadis was born in Herdecke in western Germany represented the German youth national teams in the Under-15, U-16 and U-17 levels before playing for the Greece U-19 national team.
Having plied his trade in clubs like SV Wehen Wiesbaden in Germany besides Xanthi FC and Apollon Smyrnis FC in Greece, Triadis had come to India in January 2019 in the last winter transfer window.
Triadis is a versatile attacking midfielder, possessing excellent vision and a good passing range. He is also comfortable playing through the wings utilising his deceptive pace, which makes him lethal on the break.
It will be interesting to see if another Indian Super League teams signs him or he moves somewhere else.
