The Football Sports Development Limited (FSDL) yesterday announced that the Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium in Guwahati would be the venue for the 2016 Indian Super League opening match which would see NorthEast United FC take on Kerala Blasters FC on Saturday, October 1.
And for the NorthEast United FC team, the people of the NorthEast and especially the city of Guwahati it is a big honour of hosting the opener of the Indian Super League this year.
NorthEast United FC co-owner John Abraham said, “This is a huge deal for us and the people of the NorthEast. It’s Fantastic!”
And online on social media NorthEast United wrote, “#Highlanders! You are going to love this 🙂 We look forward to seeing you there for the biggest event of the year! Kerala Blasters, get ready !”
