Indian Super League franchise NorthEast United FC have announced the signing of Spanish midfielder Jon Gaztanaga for the 2022/23 season.
31 year old Jon Gaztañaga Arrospide, born in the Spanish city of Andoain, is a youth product of the Real Sociedad Academy from San Sebastian.
Jon Gaztanaga moved up to the Real Sociedad B team before also being part of their senior team, but there were loan spells with SD Ponferradina and CD Numancia in-between. Thereafter he played for Gimnàstic de Tarragona, before moving to Cyprus to join AEL Limassol before playing in Romania for FC Viitorul and then last season for Cultural Leonesa in Spain.
NorthEast United FC technical director Ohad Efrat said, “Jon is a very experienced midfielder who has played at the highest level. He can control the tempo of the game and contribute both offensively and defensively.”
“We are confident that Jon will be one of our leaders this season, both on and off the field. And we are happy that Jon is now a Highlander.”
