Odisha FC winger Jerry Mawihmingthanga poised to make ISL history!

Odisha FC winger Jerry Mawihmingthanga will achieve an impressive individual milestone on Friday if he plays against NorthEast United FC.

Barring a bout of illness that has kept Jerry from starting the last few games, the winger will be the first Odisha FC player to make 100 ISL appearances.

While Jerry will be focused entirely on performing well against the Highlanders and helping the team secure all three points for a spot in the top 6, the achievement would clearly highlight his commendable longevity since joining Odisha FC in 2019.

Over the seasons in the ISL, the speedy and talented winger has played 99 games in which he has mustered over 7,500 minutes of game time, a staggering number of 2500 passes, created 98 chances, tackled 194 times, and intercepted the ball 71 times.

Jerry has managed all of this without being shown a red card throughout his ISL career.

A youth product of the DSK Shivajians Academy, Jerry made his ISL debut in 2016 coming on as a substitute for NorthEast United FC against Mumbai City FC. The speedy winger truly burst onto the scene in the 2017-18 ISL with Jamshedpur FC, scoring a goal and providing three assists in 16 appearances.

The ISL 2018-19 season, however, wasn’t as fruitful. The youngster moved to Odisha FC ahead of the 2019-20 season, where he was an integral member of the team. He scored two goals and bagged five assists in 17 games. He came up with the same number of goals and assists in ISL 2020-21 too.
