Odisha FC Women start IWL campaign with an emphatic victory!

Odisha FC Women was too hot to handle as they put on a dominant display against CRPF, scoring six goals and keeping a clean sheet.

The first half started off slowly, with both teams feeling each other out and trying to establish control of the game. However, in the 19th minute, Grace opened the scoring with a well-placed header that beat the CRPF goalkeeper completely.

In the 30th minute, Cynthia doubled Odisha FC’s lead with a powerful strike at the far post courtesy of a beautiful cross from Juli that left the goalkeeper with no chance. With a two-goal lead, Odisha FC continued to dominate possession and create chances.

Just before the end of the first half, Faustina scored Odisha FC’s third goal with a clinical finish from inside the box. This put the game almost out of reach for CRPF, who were struggling to get a foothold in the game.

In the third minute of first half injury time, Cynthia with a grounded cross found Lynda who tapped it into an empty net and scored the fourth of the afternoon.

In the second half, the girls continued to press forward and create chances, with Bala Devi leading the charge. In the 65th minute, Bala scored a belter of a goal from outside the box, putting Odisha FC up 5-0.

Just two minutes later, Jasoda made it 6-0 as she pounced on a loose ball, and drove it past the defense and the keeper.

With six goals and a clean sheet, Odisha FC sent a message to the rest of the league that they will be a force to be reckoned with this season. Overall, it was a great debut performance by The Eastern Dragons in the IWL, with multiple players contributing to the team’s success.

Odisha FC Women next face Kickstart FC on April 30 at the Shahibaug Police Stadium at 8am.
