Former I-League champions Gokulam Kerala FC have announced the signing of Uruguayan playmaker Martin Chaves ahead of the 2024/25 season.
25 year old Martín Nicolás Cháves García, who was born in Uruguay’s Colonia del Sacramento, in his youth played for Nacional de Colonia and Club Juventud Colonia before joining Uruguayan giants CA Peñarol.
Martin Chaves spend time on loan in his youth with Brazilian side Gremio before returning to Peñarol.
Martin Chaves made his senior debut at CA Juventud before moving to India to join ISL side NorthEast United FC. He then went on to play for Greek side AS Rodos.
In 2022, Martin Chaves returned to India to join Rajasthan United adnd last season played for Churchill Brothers. Now he moved on to Gokulam Kerala FC
Martin Chaves said, “I am very happy to join a club like Gokulam Kerala FC; those of us who have already been to India know how big Gokulam is here in the I-League. Let’s hope this year we achieve the goal of winning the league and being able to be in the ISL next year.”
