Promoted Indian Super League side Punjab FC have announced the contract extension of Spanish playmaker Juan Mera for the 2023/24 season.
29 year old Gijon-born Juan Mera González played for Antonio Machado and CD Roces before joining the Academy of Sporting Gijon.
Juan Mera made his senior debut with Sporting Gijon B, where he spend six seasons. Thereafer he played for Celta de Cigo B (2016/17), Racing Club de Ferrol (2017/18), CD Teruel (2018/19), SD Leioa (2019) before coming to India to play for Quess East Bengal in the 2019/20 season.
Juan Mera returned to play for Club Deportivo Lealtad de Villaviciosa before heading to India for a second time to join NEROCA FC.
Juan Mera then stayed in the I-League but joined RoundGlass Punjab FC and he was a key factor for the club to lift the title and get promotion to the ISL, where he will debut this season.
