Raimond Aumann to join FC Bayern Legends!

27 years ago, 1990 FIFA World Cup winner Raimond Aumann started invaluable pioneering work at FC Bayern: He set up the fan club support department and continuously developed the area over the decades. During this time, the number of fan clubs worldwide rose to 4,475, the number of registered members to 357,181, and the number of employees in his management to eleven. Now the former FC Bayern captain is moving to the FC Bayern Legends at his own request. From 1 February 2023, the 59-year-old will represent the German record champions in a new role alongside Giovane Élber, Claudio Pizarro, Stefan Effenberg and other Legends.

Raimond Aumann: “So far I’ve had two great stages in my time at FC Bayern: first 14 years as a goalkeeper, then 27 years as the person responsible for looking after our fans. Now it is my wish to start a new chapter here. My time as a player was great, my time as director of fan club support was incredibly exciting. And now I’m really looking forward to my new role. I will continue to be close to our fans and I want to convey to people what is important at our club.”

FC Bayern deputy CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen: “FC Bayern is the football club with the most fan clubs and fan club members in the world. Raimond Aumann has done a great job here, building and expanding this area for 27 years. FC Bayern would like to thank him for that. Now Raimond has decided to take on a new role at the club and I am sure he will serve Bayern Munich well as a Legend.”

FC Bayern marketing director Andreas Jung: “Raimond Aumann made history with FC Bayern as number 1 and captain – and even after the end of his playing career, he made an extraordinary difference to the club. He stands for identity, he has always been a legend – we are very happy he will now drive forward the development of the FC Bayern Legends.“

Aumann came to Munich from FC Augsburg in 1980 and kept goal for the first team in a total of 268 competitive games between 1982 and 1994. He celebrated six Bundesliga titles as well as two DFB Cup and DFB Supercup wins. At the end of his sporting career he played for readition-rich Turkish club Besiktas, where he also won a league title.
