RB Leipzig hand teenage keeper Timo Schlieck first pro contract!

Timo Schlieck, who celebrated his 18th birthday last Saturday, has now received his first professional contract at RB Leipzig until June 2027.

Timo Schlieck joined RB Leipzig from Borussia Dortmund’s youth team in July 2021 and immediately established himself as the U17 first-choice keeper in his first season in Leipzig.

On September 2, 2021, he also made his debut for the Germany U-16 national team in a 3-3 draw against Austria. So far, Timo Schlieck has played a total of nine U-internationals.

RB Leipzig sporting director Rouven Schröder said, “Timo Schlieck is a special goalkeeping talent who has been making his way at RB Leipzig since 2021. Timo has improved from year to year and, above all, has shown that he can hold his own against adversity – as he did after his knee injury at the beginning of 2023.”

“He has everything to be able to assert himself sustainably in the professional sector and therefore it quickly became clear to us that we now want to provide him with a professional contract! In addition to his size, he is characterized above all by his responsiveness and he is already at a very good level of football.”

“Now it’s a matter of continuous development for him. Above all, Timo will make enormous progress in training with our first team led by goalkeeping coach Frederik Gößling as well as regular match practice in the U19s until the summer.”
