Salgaocar FC Juniors beat Panjim Footballers in Goa First Division!

Salgaocar FC Juniors overpowered Panjim Footballers by beating them 5-0 in their own back yard in Panjim.

It was a very intense right from the start of play where both teams were high in attack and did well in the defence. What looked to be close battle between the two sides, but in the 37th minute a freak deflection from a Salgaocar FC juniors counter attack saw the Panjim Footballers goalkeeper clear the ball only to find the face of his own defender which on deflection entered the empty nets, 0-1.

Salgaocars kept the pressure on the Panjim citadel and their efforts paid of when Lalit Tariyal dribbled his way past the defenders and set up Devendra Murgaokar to make it 0-2 in the 45th minute. Half time score 0-2.

The second half saw Panjim Footballers attacking from both flanks but the  Salgaocar juniors defenders stood tall. The main play maker of the day Samuel Costa of the greens caused a lot of problems for the home side. It was in the 68th minute, when Lalit was brough down in the box by the keeper, Samuel Costa stepped up for the penalty and converted by placing the ball into the far right of the goal, 0-3.

Panjim were awarded a penalty when the ball struck a Salgaocar defender, but Panjim did not make full use of the only chance they had at their opponents as they shot the ball miles above the crossbar.

When everything seemed done and dusted Samuel blasted home from the edge of the box to make it his second the teams 4th of the day in the 90th minute, 0-4. And just as the match came to a close Stephen Satarkar was set up by Jason Barbosa to make it 0-5.
