The Iran international Sardar Azmoun signed by Bayer 04 Leverkusen last week is now joining the Werkself from Russian side Zenit St. Petersburg with immediate effect.
The Bundesliga club agreed with the Russian champions to the release of the 27-year-old centre forward from his contract valid to the summer. Azmoun has signed a five-year deal with Leverkusen until June 30, 2027.
“We are delighted with the constructive agreement with Zenit and that we can benefit from Sardar’s qualities earlier than expected. He will boost our attacking game and significantly strengthen our very good squad,” said Bayer 04 sporting director Simon Rolfes.
