SC East Bengal sign Amarjit Kiyam, Adil Khan & Jackichand Singh on loan!

Indian Super League side SC East Bengal have announced the signing of the trio of Amarjit Singh Kiyam, Adil Khan and Jackichand Singh all on loan.

While Amarjit Singh Kiyam has come from FC Goa, Adil Khan from Hyderabad FC and Jackichand Singh from Mumbai City FC.

Defensive midfielder Amarjit Kiyam captained the Indian team in the FIFA U-17 World Cup, before being picked to play for Indian Arrows in I-League 2017-18. The 20-year old signed for Jamshedpur FC following his stint with Arrows, and in 2019, made his debut for the Indian senior team in the King’s Cup in Thailand.

During the 2019-20 season, Amarjit made his ISL debut for Jamshedpur FC after another loan spell at Arrows, playing a total of 15 games for the Men of Steel before joining FC Goa in the January transfer window on a multi-year deal.

The Manipur-born footballer, known for his composure on the ball as well as his maturity, featured in four of FC Goa’s six AFC Champions League group stage games, besides making two appearances for the Gaurs in the ISL last season.

“It’s always a great feeling signing for a big club like SC East Bengal. It’s like a dream come true for a young player like me. I want to achieve so much for the club and myself. I am eager to improve and want to contribute to helping this team achieve more and more success,” said Amarjit Kiyam.

33 year old Adil Khan moved to FC Goa on loan during the January transfer window after spending one and a half-seasons with Hyderabad FC. The national team centre-back featured in the AFC Champions League for FC Goa, also starting five matches for the Gaurs in the league last season.

Having started his career as a defensive midfielder, Adil was signed by Sporting Club de Goa back in 2008 and spent five years at the club. Adil donned Delhi Dynamos FC colours in the inaugural ISL season before plying his trade for FC Pune City in the 2017-18 season, where he had a stellar spell with the Stallions. He then moved to Hyderabad FC.

“I am delighted to be part of SC East Bengal. I know how passionate the fans are and that is a big motivating factor for me. I am really looking forward to working with Robbie Fowler (head coach) also, and I will try and give my best for the red-and-gold brigade,” Adil said after putting pen to paper for the century-old club. “I am also thankful to the club management for giving me this opportunity. I am raring to go,” he added.

Jackichand, 29, helped Mumbai City FC to their maiden Indian Super League title last season, playing eight matches for the Islanders since joining them in the January transfer window from Jamshedpur FC. Jackichand appeared in all 12 matches for Jamshedpur. The Manipur-born footballer has a total of 91 ISL matches under his belt, netting 13 times.

The India international previously turned out for East Bengal in 2017.

“I am absolutely thrilled to be back at East Bengal. I am thankful to the management for giving me this opportunity to return to this big club. I love the fans here and I can’t wait to take the field in red and gold colours,” Jackichand said.
Jackichand was first seen for Royal Wahingdoh FC in 2009 as he played a pivotal role in the club gaining promotion to the I-League for the 2014-15 season. He then moved to FC Pune City in 2015 and turned out for the Stallions nine times, scoring once.

Jackichand jumped ship to Mumbai City FC for the 2016 campaign, making eight appearances in his first spell under then head coach Alexandre Guimares. He also plied his trade for Kerala Blasters FC in the 2017-18 season before switching allegiances to FC Goa, helping the team reach the final of ISL 2018-19 also winning the Super Cup 2019.

The 2019-20 league campaign saw him score five goals and provide three assists in 18 matches as FC Goa clinched the inaugural ISL League Winners Shield. Jackichand then joined Jamshedpur FC ahead of the 2020-21 season before returning to Mumbai City FC.
