SC East Bengal to don familiar look in 2021/22 season Reyaur Sports kit!

SC East Bengal has returned to a grand tradition with their home colours, blending familiar hues in the most classic of looks: red and gold fields, vertically split into two halves. This iconic home kit has been a big part of the club’s heritage since 1921.

“The new 2021/22 home kit is a tribute to, and a proud embodiment of, our hallowed tradition,” SC East Bengal advisor Srenik Sett said. “The home kit for this season will uphold the emotions of the millions of fans who are so familiar with seeing their team wearing this jersey, with the two colours split into halves.”

“The players need to earn their shirt. The club is 100 years old and it has rich history. The jerseys this time reflect the tradition of the club and our players in the squad need to show they can take the legacy forward,” head coach Jose Manuel ‘Manolo’ Diaz said.

The first club jersey, in 1920, was red with a gold band across the chest. Because of clashing colours with other clubs, the jersey was redesigned with the iconic half-red-half-gold look in the 1921 season.

Over the decades, this look, now emblematic of East Bengal, was revived several times. In the 1960s, the jerseys for the Durand Cup, played in the frigid months of December and January in New Delhi, were even made of wool, with long sleeves.

The white away kit, with red and gold trim on the collar, sleeves, and bottom of the shirt, is also a classic. This design earned SC East Bengal the moniker of ‘maidan-er German’. “East Bengal is known for its fighting spirit. So are the Germans, and the way they play football. The white away jersey has always had that ‘German’ look and goes well with the never-say-die spirit,” said Srenik Sett.

The third kit, this time, is an evolution of last season’s away kit, paying tribute to Bengal’s love for fish and East Bengal’s connection with Ilish (Hilsa).
