Dempo practiceFormer I-League champions Dempo SC consolidated their position at the top of the Second Division League standings with a 3-0 home win against Gangtok Himalayan SC at the Fatorda Stadium in Margao on Thursday afternoon.

Gangtok Himalayan were no match for Dempo SC, but the Goans were only 1-0 ahead at the break through a Mandar Rao Desai strike in the 20th minute with Romeo Fernandes being the culprit of wasting a number of chances.

In the 83rd minute once more Mandar scored for the Eagles and then in the 85th minute Holicharan Narzary was lucky that his penalty went in past Shambhu Mistry in the Gangtok Himalayan SC goal.

The game ended 3-0 in favour of Dempo SC, who move to 16 points from seven matches now four points ahead of second-placed Minerva Academy FC and closing in on a return to the I-League next season.
