Second edition of ACFL set to continue transforming Asian football ecosystem!

The Asian Football Confederation (AFC)’s continuous efforts to expand its educational programmes reached a significant milestone with the launch of the second edition of the acclaimed AFC Certificate in Football Leadership (ACFL) on Wednesday.

The inaugural edition of the programme, which concluded in December 2023, witnessed 19 decision-makers from AFC Member Associations (MAs), Regional Associations (RAs), and AFC ACE graduates gaining fresh insights that will aid them in enhancing their leadership skills as flagbearers of Asian football.

Building on the success of the first edition, the ACFL aims to equip participants with the necessary perspective, skillsets, and tools to navigate the dynamic landscape of football administration through a wide range of topics, fundamental to effective leadership in the sport.

These topics are spread across six modules and include the Principles of Leadership, Influence and Impact Through Communication, Organisational Design and Development in Football, Environmental, Social and Governance in Football, A Leader’s Perspective of Football Development & Performance, and Managing Projects in Football.

In addition to providing comprehensive leadership development, the ACFL emphasises refining communication and interpersonal skills of the participants.

Furthermore, it also examines real case studies to enhance the decision-making abilities of the participants across all aspects, from administrative tasks to on-field performance.

“In order to maintain our status as a model Confederation, it’s crucial for our Member Associations and Regional Associations to reach their full potential,” said AFC General Secretary Datuk Seri Windsor John.

“The AFC is dedicated to supporting our current leaders in enhancing their skills while also welcoming aspiring future leaders, providing them with the necessary guidance and resources to succeed.”

The AFC General Secretary reaffirmed the Confederation’s commitment to investing in the development of capable leaders.

“The modern game of football is constantly evolving, and that holds true for football governance as well. The AFC is determined to provide tailor-made programmes like the ACFL to empower our leaders who will shape the future of Asian football by implementing strategic initiatives and realising long-term goals,” added Datuk Seri Windsor.

Registration for the second edition of the ACFL closes on May 1, 2024. For more details, please visit www.afcacademy.com .
