Shaikh Salman reiterates AFC’s continued support to Chinese Taipei FA!

Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa, President of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), today welcomed Wang Ling-Hsiang, President of the Chinese Taipei Football Association (CTFA), at the AFC Annual Awards Doha 2022, where the two engaged in a constructive meeting on a range of football-related matters.

At the outset, the AFC President congratulated President Wang on his successful election to the position in February and extended the Confederation’s wholehearted support towards the CTFA’s efforts to raise the standards of the game.

Shaikh Salman took the opportunity to share the ambitions of the Confederation in providing dedicated and tailormade support to its Member Associations, as outlined in the AFC’s Mission, whilst discussing several key areas which are essential in strengthening the development of football in the territory.

The AFC President said: “The AFC is only as strong as our members, and we are committed towards elevating our collective standards by creating an environment where we continue to grow together as one Asian football family.

“In recent years, the AFC has not only introduced a full suite of new development programmes, but we have also streamlined the process, through the consolidated AFC Enhance Programme, to ensure our MAs receive the best possible assistance in the most effective manner.

“The AFC stands ready to assist the CTFA in realising their long-term aspirations under the leadership of President Wang and we are confident that the CTFA will usher greater success in the years to come,” added Shaikh Salman.

President Wang, on his part, stressed the pivotal role of the AFC’s programmes and assistance in transforming the game in Chinese Taipei, where football continues to serve as a unifying force in bringing together people from all walks of life.

Most notably, the Migrant Workers’ World Cup, which was launched in October last year with the support of the AFC Dream Asia Foundation, was instrumental in promoting inclusivity and facilitating closer bonds across various diverse communities through the beautiful game.
