Shyama Prasad Intermediate College from Jamshedpur qualifies for RFYS finals!

Shyama Prasad Intermediate College from Jamshedpur city have qualified for the finals of the Reliance Foundation Youth Sports Initiative. The school showed exceptional resilience and determination to qualify for the final stages of the competition. The kids are from a village in Jamshedpur and have come up the ranks through a lot of hardship.

They cleared the City championship which they won the finals by defeating Jusco School located in Kadma by 5-1.

They proceeded to the National qualifiers of the East Zonal – Bhubaneswar at two venues, KISS (Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences) and KIIT (Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology) where they had two wins and a draw respectively – against Kalinga Institute of Social Science School, they won 2-0, against
Gustia Kshetranath High School, they won 2-1, and against Imphal Wangoi HR Secondary School, they drew 1-1.

They have qualified for the final stages where seven teams will be coming from different cities such as Bangalore, Goa, Chandigarh, Delhi, Shillong, Kozhikode and Ahmedabad.

Jamshedpur FC CEO Mukul Choudhari expressed his views on the spectacular achievement and said, “Most of them are going to Mumbai for the first time and all of them are boarding a flight for the first time. I am thankful to the Reliance Foundation for giving them such a good platform and it’s a good initiative because all of these kids are from villages of Jamshedpur. It’s a great success and we are proud as Jamshedpur FC and as Jamshedpur FC, the team will stand behind them and cheer for them.”

Jamshedpur FC Reserve Team Head Coach Kundan Chandra said, “I would like to congratulate the team at Shyama Prasad Intermediate College. This team has been improving every year and we all know they have potential. So, I wish them best of luck for the upcoming tournament.”
