Spoils shared by Jamshedpur FC & Kerala Blasters!

Jamshedpur FC returned after two days of recovery to take on Kerala Blasters tonight. They took the game underway as Valskis headed the Men of Steel for their away game against the Tuskers. With Nick Fitzgerald, and the new signings, Len and Farukh, in the starting 11, Jamshedpur FC entered the pitch with renewed energy and hunger to grab the victory.

The game kicked-off with pace as both sides went at each other, but Jamshedpur FC was seen with the majority of ball possession. Just as the match entered the 10th minute, Jamshedpur FC got a chance to take an early lead; Albino Gomes (Kerala Blasters’ goalkeeper) did not put the required amount of energy to clear the ball away to safety and the ball was collected by Valskis just a few yards away from the half-line. The former Golden Boot winner then tried his luck from far with a powerful low shot at goal which got blocked by the keeper. Even though Albino couldn’t get his full glove on the shot and the ball almost entered the goalline, it deflected off the post. After a close chance to take the lead, Jamshedpur FC came through with even more attacks to net an early lead over the hosts.

With numerous crosses and attacks coming in from both flanks, another chance came as Aitor delivered a wonderful cross into the box towards Valskis who was left completely unmarked in the heart of the box. The skipper received a wonderful first touch on the ball but sadly could not get a good grip on it as he slipped right before taking the shot. Kerala Blasters too were determined to get the edge over Jamshedpur FC with rapid counter-attacks and one of the attempts almost turned out to be the lead that the hosts needed. The Kerala Blasters striker, Gary Hooper with the ball right outside the box, went for goal from far off which almost ended in the top right corner, but it was denied by the woodwork as the ball hit the lower part of the crossbar and bounced off, leaving the striker disappointed. After the first miss, yet another shot went to waste for the Kerala Blasters as a powerful shot on target was deflected off the crossbar again. Just when it looked like the Kerala Blasters finally took the lead over the Men of Steel after their numerous attempts at goal, the goal attempt by Gary Hooper was disallowed by the linesman referee declaring it as an offside, and that’s how a very lively first half came to an end.

The second half kicked-off with more enthusiasm as Kerala Blasters and Jamshedpur FC looked determined to take the lead with quick attacks at the opposition goal. Both teams came in with fierce attacks from the flanks as well as the middle of the pitch, but all the opportunities showed no significant results as the defensive line-up of both sides dealt with every danger well to stay alive in the game.

The match grew intense with every passing minute but the score still remained goalless till the final 10 minutes. Throughout the second half, multiple fouls and rough challenges were witnessed on the pitch as the players from both teams grew restless with the full-time approaching.

Even after the game saw many shots on target and attempts that could have landed at the back of the net, both teams walked out with a point each and the game ended in a goalless draw after an intense exchange at the GMC Stadium in Bambolim.
